Part 1. Introduction and Interview

Time: 4-5 minutes

 

This part of the test begins with the examiner introducing himself or herself and checking the candidate’s identification. It then continues as an interview.

 

– Could you tell me your name, please?
– Do you work, or are you a student?
– Could you describe what kind of work you do?
– What do you like about your job?
– What kind of job do you hope to do in 10 years time?
– Do you play any sport?
– What are the most popular sports in your country?
– Is it better to play sport or to watch it?
– can sport be dangerous?
– Do men and women play different sports in Korea?

 

 

Part 2. Individual long turn

Time: 3-4 minutes

 

Now, I’m going to give you a topic and I’d like you to talk about it for 1-2 minutes.

Before you talk you’ll have one minute to think about what you are going to say and you can make notes if you wish. Do you understand?

Ok, here’s some paper and a pencil to make notes, and here is your topic.


Describe a vacation you have really enjoyed.

You should say:

  • When you were on the vacation
  • Who you were with
  • What you did
  • Why it was enjoyable

Follow up questions:

  1. Would you go there again?

 

Part 3. Two-way discussion

Time: 4-5 minutes

 

– Are people taking more holidays and traveling more these days?
– Where did people go on holidays in your grandparent’s time, say, 50 years ago?
– Where do people usually like to go for a holiday away these days?
– Why do people want to travel, to go away for a holiday?
– Is tourism having an effect on the environment, do you think?
– How important is the tourist dollar for the economy?
– Will the tourist industry grow in the next 10-20 years?
– What do you think of tourism designed not to damage the environment?
