00:08 Hey, Dr. Binocs?

00:11 Hey, who’s that?

00:13 It’s me, the pond!

00:16 Oh, how are you?

00:18 Not good! Humans are dirtying me.

00:22 Oh, that’s sad.

00:24 They are actually harming our ecosystem!

00:27 Oh, that reminds me about today’s topic Ecosystem!

00:32 Come, let me tell you all about it!

00:35 Zoom in!

00:38 Ecosystem is a community of living organisms along with their natural habitat..

00:44 ..and the non-living components of their environment.

00:48 This network of living and non-living components in a given area..

00:53 ..is known as an ecosystem.

00:56 An ecosystem could be a pond, could be your house as well.

01:01 And some believe that our Earth is an ecosystem too!

01:07 Ecosystem includes two major components:

01:11 Biotic and Abiotic components.

01:14 Abiotic components are the non-living elements of the system.

01:19 Such as Air, Water, Sunlight, Nutrients, and temperature.

01:25 Biotic component are all the living organisms living in the system.

01:31 Like plants, animals, fungi, micro-organisms and you!

01:38 Ecosystems can be of any size.

01:41 The area under your plant pot.

01:45 Under this rock.

01:48 A pond.

01:50 A puddle.

01:51 The vast ocean.

01:53 The city you live in.

01:55 Or your country!

01:58 Take the area under a rock, for example.

02:02 In this ecosystem, you’ll find biotic components like the micro-organisms..

02:08 ..insects and abiotic components..

02:12 ..like soil, nutrients, air, etc!

02:17 Now, this is an important piece of information.

02:21 Each organism living in an ecosystem has a Role or Niche.

02:27 For example, a Deer living in the forest is a prey.

02:31 Lions, tigers, coyotes and other animals eat them for food.

02:38 Now imagine if a Deer was supposed to eat lions, coyotes, and wolves?

02:43 Wouldn’t that make things difficult for an ecosystem?

02:48 We must remember that no two organisms can have the same niche or too long.

02:54 After a while one has to either leave or go extinct.

03:00 TRIVIA TIME!

03:02 Did you know that even you are an ecosystem?

03:07 Yes, you are an ecosystem to the thousands of microorganisms that inhabit in you!

03:15 Our ecosystem is really important.

03:18 If we keep polluting our ecosystem like that!

03:23 we would soon go extinct and Earth wouldn’t be habitable ecosystem ever!

03:30 On this note, this is me, Zooming out, tune in next time for more fun facts!
