00:09 One day, Rene went to her father and said, “Pleeeeeease make me a playhouse!

00:16 Our farm is way out in the middle of the woods, and I have nobody to play with except my little brothers.

00:23 I need a playhouse.”

00:28 “Good idea,” said Rene’s father, and he made her a wonderful playhouse.

00:33 It had real windows and a slide and a ladder and an upstairs and a downstairs.

00:41 It was almost like a real house – but not quite.

00:49 The next day, Rene moved lots of stuff from her room into the new playhouse,

00:57 and it was even more like a real house.

01:00 Then she drew fish all over the walls of the playhouse, just like the ones on the wall of her real bedroom.

01:13 Rene was happy for a whole week.

01:16 Then she went to her mother and said, “Is this a city playhouse or a farm playhouse?”

01:23 “Well, Rene,” said her mother, “we live on a farm, so this must be a farm playhouse.”

01:30 “Good,” said Rene.

01:32 “If it’s a farm playhouse it needs a play barn.”

01:37 “A play what?” said her mother.

01:40 “A play barn,” said Rene.

01:47 “I never heard of a play barn,” said Rene’s mother, but she was such a nice mother that she built Rene a play barn.

01:56 It took her two weeks.

02:02 Rene moved some hay and some chickens from the real barn into her play barn,

02:09 and it was almost like a real barn – but not quite.

02:13 Then Rene went to her father and said, “I need a play cow.”

02:19 “A play what?” said her father.

02:22 “A play cow,” said Rene.

02:24 “A farm playhouse needs a play barn, needs a play cow.”

02:30 “I can’t build a play cow,” said Rene’s father, “and the play barn is not big enough for a real cow.”

02:40 “No problem,” said Rene.

02:42 “How about you give me a goat and paint it so it looks like a cow, and then I will have a play cow.”

02:51 So Rene’s father got her a goat and painted it so it looked like a cow.

02:56 Rene put her play cow, which was really a goat, in the play barn,

03:01 and she felt like she had a farm of her own – but not quite.

03:09 Then Rene went to her father and said, “My play farm is out in the middle of the woods just like our real farm,

03:16 so it needs the tractor and the bulldozer and the tree snipper and the log chopper.

03:24 Why don’t you just park them by my playhouse, and then you will not have to make me anything new?”

03:32 So her father parked the tractor and the bulldozer and the tree snipper and the log chopper beside the

03:40 playhouse, and Rene played quite nicely for a whole month.

03:49 Then Rene went to her mother and said,

03:51 “A farm playhouse needs a play barn, needs a play cow, needs a play tractor,

03:58 needs a play mommy and a play daddy.”

04:01 “A play who and a play what?” said her mother.

04:06 “A play mommy and a play daddy,” said Rene.

04:10 “No,” said Rene’s mother.

04:13 “You already have a real mommy and a real daddy.

04:17 You don’t need a play mommy and a play daddy.”

04:20 “The real ones are too bossy,” said Rene.

04:24 “Ha!” said her mother.

04:26 “I am not going to make you a play mommy and a play daddy.”

04:34 So Rene cut out a cardboard play mommy and a cardboard play daddy and stuck them on the side of her

04:41 playhouse, and while she was at it, she made two play brothers.

04:50 When Rene came in for dinner, there was a scarecrow sitting in her chair.

04:54 “What’s that?” said Rene.

04:57 “That,” said her mother, “is my Play Rene.

05:00 She is always nice and never bossy.

05:03 You can eat play food out in the playhouse with your play mommy and your play daddy.”

05:11 Rene said, “Play Rene and I are going to go outside.”

05:16 Then the real Rene took Play Rene and fed it to the play cow, which was really a goat.

05:22 The goat ate all the clothes and all the straw, and soon Play Rene was completely gone.

05:33 Then Rene walked into the kitchen and gave her mother a kiss.

05:37 “Was that a real kiss or a play kiss?” said Rene’s mother.

05:41 “That,” said Rene, “was a real kiss, from a real bossy daughter for a real bossy mommy.

05:49 Now can I have a real dinner with my real family?”

05:52 “No problem,” said her mother.

05:55 “I like real bossy kids better than play kids anyway.”

06:03  And everyone had a real wonderful dinner.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
